'between the river and the road'
This series focuses on a market town situated between the arterial routes of river and road. Dromore a small town in Northern Ireland sits alongside the A1 dual carriageway between Belfast and Dublin.
The work is concerned with the social, economic and geographical eccentricities that produce the psychological phenomenon of small town syndrome, a state of mind characterised by claustrophobia and a yearning for escape. I see this work as a metaphor of what it means to live a in a ‘small town’ not just in Ireland but internationally.
